Tools

           Chişiţa

Eggs are painted with chisita. Chisita is a very simple tool. It is usually made of a stick, of a peace of thin brass or tin and one-three strains of pic hear. Brass, is usually taken from a abandoned or broken pipe. This very thin brass is being rotated on a pin, and so we make a tube out of it. One part of the tube is being scattered in the shape of ray and it’s being fixted on a round or square stick. The length of the tube is not more than one 1cm long. In the tube you introduce 2-3 strains of pig hair, which are being tide on the stick.

For painted eggs you also need a wax tuft This is a round stick which is tide at one end with patch, which is tide with thread. it is used for drawing spots on eggs. For thicker drawings you can use duck feathers.

Even if the tools are practically ancient the romanian peasant woman manages to paint in a artistic way the Easter eggs.
